OWH Design Bootcamp: Rule of Thirds

Happy Spring! Doesn't look or feel much like spring outside, but the days are getting longer and there are Easter bunnies in my craft room, so I have faith that spring is coming!

This week's Design Bootcamp at OWH is all about using the Rule of Thirds in your card design. I've been playing with the Shellebrate stamp set from Stamper's Best, a fundraiser set for Operation Write Home, and I put together these cards with the Rule of Thirds in mind.

I used DP from the PTI Green Boutique stack and MME.  Card stock used includes Pool Party from SU and New Leaf from PTI.

I created this overlay using a transparency and Sharpie marker. I think it will really be helpful in putting together balanced designs.

I put this card together from random stuff found in my reject basket.  Again, I used my Rule of Thirds overlay to create a pleasing design.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look. Have a great day!

Blessings,
Shari B

  1. These are all terrific Shari! And what a fabulous idea to create a grid on a transparency. That's such a wonderful idea!! Would you consider posting it on the OWH Facebook wall or may I do it and send everyone to your blog to see it? Let me know paula at operationwritehome dot org.

  3. Shari, your cards are so cute! Love how you pieced the turtle and the bicycle card is just so sweet.

I think your idea for making a transparency sheet with the grid lines is a terrific idea. I was struggling with placing a sentiment on a card today and was wishing I had that grid! I have some transparent material, so I'm making one! Thanks for sharing your idea.
