ODBD July Challenge...Stitching!

The Our Daily Bread Design July challenge at the Operation Write Home this month is stitching! I like adding faux stitching with a gel pen, as shown in this birthday card made with the Birthday Bash cricut cartridge. I think it adds a nice touch to this cute little lady!

I used a zig zag stitch using my sewing machine for the cheery card below, made with the Nifty Fifties cricut cartridge and a variety of Cuttlebug embossing folders.

Finally, I made this last card using the Campin' Critters cartridge for a co-worker who was leaving our department.  When I was finished, I thought it needed "something" and I added just a few black zig zag stitches on my sewing machine to add some detail to the end of the banner.

And now for the punch line...

Be sure and link up your cards featuring stitching this month, as it means free shipping for OWH to send cards to our troops.

Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a great day!

Magnificent!

Here's a quick post to share a card I made using the Formal Occasion cartridge and DP from the Dream Pop paper pack from CTMH.

The city scene was cut at 3 3/4" and the sentiment is from SU! Perfect Words set.

Enjoy!

Happy Independence Day!  Hope you are having an enjoyable 4th of July!  I've been playing in my craft room and created this card inspired by Scrappy Mom's Red, White & Blue Challenge , Operation Write Home's Midweek Color Throwdown Challenge, and the Deconstructed Sketch 108.

This cute bear is from Campin' Critters..which is such a fun cartridge to play with!  I used heat embossing on his nose, silver card stock for utensils, DP for his scarf with gel pen stitch lines, and googly eyes to give him dimension.  The watermelon was cut from Doodlecharms at 1 1/2 adding some gel pen for accents and black shiny paper backing the seed cut outs.

Card stock is Night of Navy and Crumb Cake from SU! and I am LOVING the DP from the Dots & Stripes 6X6 paper pad from Echo Park. The sentiment is from Scrappy Mom's....I can never get enough of those stamp sets!  They work great with the cricut cartridges and are very good quality clear stamps.

Since I haven't been posting much lately, I wanted to share a couple of more cards.  This cute critter is also from the Campin' Critter cartridge.  I used a combination of embossing folders to add dimension to the log and his tail. Again I used gel pen and shiny black paper to jazz him up a bit.  The DP is from Close to My Heart from the Dream Pop collection, and the sentiment is from the CTMH Artiste Kudos collection.

Finally, here's a very summery card I made using the sandal cuts from Life is a Beach and a sentiment from the SunKissed Scrappy Mom's stamp set. This card was inspired by a quick card made by Sandy Allnock on an episode of OWH TV.

Whew!  That's enough for today! Thanks for stopping by to take a peek! Have a fun and safe holiday!

Design Bootcamp: Repetition

Hello!  Haven't posted in a while, but this week's Design Bootcamp over at Operation Write Home inspired me to get back to it!  This week's lesson is on repetition, which I used in this fun card using the camper from the Campin' Critters Cricut cartridge.

I've got lots of polka dots going on in this design with the use of the swiss dot embossing folder on the body of the camper, polka dot patterned paper and a polka dot banner. Even the tire and the brad for the doornob reinforce the "dot" design!  I added contrast in the patterns by added a bold stripe and a contrast in color by using very bright saturated accents on the camper, but  more faded colors on the background paper.

This card really says "summer is here" to me, and reminds me of all the fun camping trips I had with my family growing up.  Hope you're enjoying your summer! Thanks for stopping by to take a look!

OWH Sketch Challenge 166

166

Hello, peeps!  Have you all come down from your Easter candy sugar high? Hope you had a great day. I had a fun afternoon with my kids and grandaughter then had some time to play in my craft room.

My craft room was as cleaned up as it ever gets...boy, does that get the mojo flowing! I pulled out the Latte matstack from DCWV, some masculine stamp sets from Stampin Up, and decided to play along with the OWH Sketch Challenge.

I stamped the Lighthouse image in Memento London Fog.  For the embellishments I tried three charcoal banners on one, and three light gray ribbon banners on the other.  Never quite sure how to embellish guy cards...looking forward to the Spring Training Bloghop at OWH next weekend to get some masculine card ideas!

Thanks for stopping by...have a great week!

Got Eggs?

Happy Easter!  I hope you all had a great day, and were able to enjoy time with your family.  While I know the true meaning of Easter has nothing to do with eggs or bunnies, I sure had fun playing in my craft room to create these cards.  The bunnies are cut from the Create a Critter cartrdge, and the egg was cut using a Creative Memories template.  I used my Cuttlebug and some Martha Stewart washi tape to decorate the eggs.  The setiments are from Scrappy Moms "Spring Fling" stamp set.

I'm linking this up to Scrappy Mom's Terrific Tuesday Challenge.  Before I sign off, I also wanted to share something fun that I ran across in my Easter decorations.  My mother-in-law made these little chickens for the grandkids' Easter baskets a very long time ago!  There's a plastic egg inside, which was filled with some loose change.  My son Josh was just a little tyke at the time, and he called this his "chicken account".  Ha!

Thanks for stopping by to take a look.  Have a great week, and THINK SPRING!

OWH Sketch Challenge #165

165

Today I've been trying out some fun extras I received in my last Stampin' Up! order and playing along with the OWH Sketch Challenge

This bold leaf print was just screaming for either a bird or floral focal point.  I went with my bird punch and an SU stamp set called Language of Friendship.  This is a great layout, and I hope to try my hand at a few more cards using this sketch!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great week!
