You're TREE-mendous!

Today was my birthday and what better way to spend the day than making cards!



I made nine of these for Operation Write Home with the help of my friend Ute and sister Kathy.This card was made using a tree cut at 3" from the Give a Hoot cartridge. The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms and we used a couple of Cuttlebug folders for texture. This one's a little "punny" so I'm linking it up to the OWH Make Em Laugh Bloghog.



We also made a couple of "thanks dad" cards using paper from Recollections, a stamp from Stampin' Up, and Early Espresso for layering and inking. This one was fun and went together fairly quick once we figured out how to line up the plaid!

All in all, a productive crafternoon!

You always POP-UP when I need you!

I was inspired by this week's Mojo Monday sketch to make a card featuring one of my favorite little critters from the Give a Hoot Cricut cartridge. I tipped the sketch on it's side and used a bunch of fun supplies: designer paper from "The Great Outdoors" pad by GCD Studios, card stock and ribbon from Paper Trey Ink, a sentiment from Scrappy Moms "A Pinch and a Dash" set, a border punch from Martha Stewart, along with a daisy punch and some random supplies from my stash.  I inked edges with gray ink for a distressed look.

I'm also linking this up to the ODBD Challenge at OWH Stars and Stamps, which is looking for animal cards throughout the month of April.

Featured Cardmaker at OWH!

Wow, was I surprised and excited to be nominated as a Featured Cardmaker on the OWH Stars and Stamp blog!  I've been making cards for Operation Write Home since last summer. OWH is a non-profit organization that collects hand made greeting cards and distributes them to deployed servicemembers to send to loved ones. Even though our troops have left Iraq, there is still a large demand for cards in Afghanistan and many other parts of the world.  If you're a card maker, I challenge you to get involved!  There are a few simple rules and lots of information to help you get started on their website. If you're not a cardmaker, you can get involved by making a financial donation to help with shipping costs, or write some Any Hero letters, which are sent with each shipment of cards.

Today I'd like to share some cards I have finished in the last couple of weeks.  There's been been lots of puttering around in the craft room but few completed cards!  My friend Deb and I recently got together for a "crafternoon" and made the some Cricut cards:

The Hello Friend card was made using the Wild Card cartridge.  I modified the design a bit by adding a layer for the telephone handle, and adding a patterned layer behind the shape of the telephone.  Deb provided the green textured paper from her stash (she brings with the neatest paper!) and I found the DP in the Letterpress stack from DCWV.  Diamond Stickles on the dial add some sparkle!

This whimsical pup is from the Doodlecharm cartrtidge. We used various neutral card stock from Stampin' Up! and a polka dot print from the Flea Market pad from Colorbok.  We ran the blue scarf through the Cuttlebut, distressed and inked some edges, and added a bit of twine to finish it off!  The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms (a website you should definitely check out if you're into making "punny" cards).

This little bunny from the Give a Hoot cartridge had been hanging around my craft room for quite some time, waiting for a home!  While my usual style is to added a patterned background layer, I like the pop of the polka dot balloon and simple kraft background on this one.  The cloud was cut from Create a Critter and I used a dashed line border punch from Recollections across the bottom of the card.  The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms.
