I've been working on a final box of cards for OWH, as they are finishing their mission as of August 1st. I have had such a great experience working with this organization and am grateful to have played a small part in the millions of moments of "happy" the cards have delivered.<br /><br /><br /><br /><center><a href='https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#6164856098178275330'><img src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNVtZlj_ZQ5iPCh8Dl_VEC7p6ZiEEn_Xgh4mTx6o-QDyAjHbzsoPSCOq6j9ApaYhwQWE41r76-Z6Z0tq-GboUiY_5nd2GsjRuF9msUbmvm4jmqXR2FuyMT3_0LgQ__eowMaqHjLG_JIXc/s288/iphone_photo.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='209' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br /><br />This card was made with the Painted Petals and Something Lacey stamps from Stampin' Up! The Our Daily Bread Design July challenge at the <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/our-daily-bread-designs-july-challenge-2/" target="_blank">Operation Write Home</a> this month is stitching! I like adding faux stitching with a gel pen, as shown in this birthday card made with the Birthday Bash cricut cartridge. I think it adds a nice touch to this cute little lady!<br />
<center>
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5897493292019858194"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8s4tM6R_won863ox_y4YhR0r7t9PX7Zueiy5uXCvYZLFCLrlFIgPXlmWdLC54qDSN1r498QflxOTngGri0jL3cGNwpRVitw8bUqvExP-d_dKXjme3zeuQk0SQcWpm7Otb176CaI4ccNE/s400/9.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center>
<br />
I used a zig zag stitch using my sewing machine for the cheery card below, made with the Nifty Fifties cricut cartridge and a variety of Cuttlebug embossing folders. <br /><br />
<center>
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5897493316157599026"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrN9f0WiWX0R1Wa51oLgwgP2RaOjcR2c1ZJytIEXHhrFFkLlGI72XwxWhGAWD7UmDZRL5147bpPglxKugY_CTYriKMbGXTgcQpXnRD9fDGtt3NYRsHS8zMuyQaPqyaQrJXDYvuSK4dhZ4/s400/10.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="298" /></a></center>
<br />
<br />
Finally, I made this last card using the Campin' Critters cartridge for a co-worker who was leaving our department. When I was finished, I thought it needed "something" and I added just a few black zig zag stitches on my sewing machine to add some detail to the end of the banner.<br /><br />
<center>
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5897493337913525586"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLu2dOCHgA5svK_H9rCn711Moz92CzinQ8-EyZX_Bc0G0t_4vs7HVk6-DNYpx2T4sFU8FAIJzc3RwEifGB-qTHN9bKzVe86OWOTE1aK4QZTk-jNc_f9wnS4wTUxJj0e5aRtHVSpGYdDGw/s400/11.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center>
<br />
And now for the punch line...<br />

Hope you are having an enjoyable 4th of July! I've been playing in my craft room and created this card inspired by <a href="http://scrappymoms-stamps.blogspot.com/2013/07/terrific-tuesday-challenge-red-white.html" target="_blank">Scrappy Mom's Red, White & Blue Challenge</a> , Operation Write Home's <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/midweek-throwdown-color-challenge-10/" target="_blank">Midweek Color Throwdown Challenge</a>, and the <a href="http://deconstructingjen.com/deconstructed-sketch-108/" target="_blank">Deconstructed Sketch 108</a>.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5896808565775744050"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdSbLYDMdwBroUkdEH85tB8HrHbC6vJPrIseVHF6b5lwrV3hnb8FMMWkepHthYmQVQAbgjPDYW2xfbDCCVlyP2bWA4YNsELrzRXivAvpK78zkp-7WinbDNzmGgfxk_v3LpSH18Pz0wSJA/s400/9.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="298" /></a><br />
<br />
This cute bear is from Campin' Critters..which is such a fun cartridge to play with! I used heat embossing on his nose, silver card stock for utensils, DP for his scarf with gel pen stitch lines, and googly eyes to give him dimension. The watermelon was cut from Doodlecharms at 1 1/2 adding some gel pen for accents and black shiny paper backing the seed cut outs.<br />
<br />
Card stock is Night of Navy and Crumb Cake from SU! and I am LOVING the DP from the Dots & Stripes 6X6 paper pad from Echo Park. The sentiment is from Scrappy Mom's....I can never get enough of those stamp sets! They work great with the cricut cartridges and are very good quality clear stamps.<br />
<br />
Since I haven't been posting much lately, I wanted to share a couple of more cards. This cute critter is also from the Campin' Critter cartridge. I used a combination of embossing folders to add dimension to the log and his tail. Again I used gel pen and shiny black paper to jazz him up a bit. The DP is from Close to My Heart from the Dream Pop collection, and the sentiment is from the CTMH Artiste Kudos collection.<br />

<br />
<br />
Finally, here's a very summery card I made using the sandal cuts from Life is a Beach and a sentiment from the SunKissed Scrappy Mom's stamp set. This card was inspired by a quick card made by <a href="http://sandyallnock.com/" target="_blank">Sandy Allnock</a> on an episode of OWH TV. <br />

Haven't posted in a while, but this week's <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/let-me-repeat-using-repetition-in-design/" target="_blank">Design Bootcamp</a> over at Operation Write Home inspired me to get back to it! This week's lesson is on repetition, which I used in this fun card using the camper from the Campin' Critters Cricut cartridge. <br />
<br />
<center>
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5888047028132177698"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj06lCLcIYPOS5p1DyA7D_i0BQqJJlvAYjGvDwDbAb1Mf94jyI7Re_Rugyd2F768Bf13JRmCqsWwdPMX3SpZl5BT06vCFX7X_KvMnhk6iT_2LvWpmM1TtLR99_3WoAp9io_K4usK4NQ3U/s400/9.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center>
<br /><br />
I've got lots of polka dots going on in this design with the use of the swiss dot embossing folder on the body of the camper, polka dot patterned paper and a polka dot banner. Even the tire and the brad for the doornob reinforce the "dot" design! I added contrast in the patterns by added a bold stripe and a contrast in color by using very bright saturated accents on the camper, but more faded colors on the background paper.<br />
<br />
This card really says "summer is here" to me, and reminds me of all the fun camping trips I had with my family growing up. Hope you're enjoying your summer! Thanks for stopping by to take a look! <br />
<br />
Blessings,<br />

<br />
Hello, peeps! Have you all come down from your Easter candy sugar high? Hope you had a great day. I had a fun afternoon with my kids and grandaughter then had some time to play in my craft room.<br />
<br />
My craft room was as cleaned up as it ever gets...boy, does that get the mojo flowing! I pulled out the Latte matstack from DCWV, some masculine stamp sets from Stampin Up, and decided to play along with the <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/sketch-challenge-166/" target="_blank">OWH Sketch Challenge</a>.<br />
<br />

<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5861667528627677810"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO7t0xY-ceKQJdDYnry-LbTBHD_Dl59VFBgVRlBFPjjTXCTto_lDnL8FbmqRS3RJBGpovNL1SY0z6ofw0ed6LCsxqqWhbyErI1q4jdH06I64sMFpTI-7FeXn6EYHvmVcs8oVh6HKoP5Ek/s400/9.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center>
<br />
I stamped the Lighthouse image in Memento London Fog. For the embellishments I tried three charcoal banners on one, and three light gray ribbon banners on the other. Never quite sure how to embellish guy cards...looking forward to the Spring Training Bloghop at OWH next weekend to get some masculine card ideas!<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by...have a great week!<br />

I hope you all had a great day, and were able to enjoy time with your family. While I know the true meaning of Easter has nothing to do with eggs or bunnies, I sure had fun playing in my craft room to create these cards. The bunnies are cut from the Create a Critter cartrdge, and the egg was cut using a Creative Memories template. I used my Cuttlebug and some Martha Stewart washi tape to decorate the eggs. The setiments are from Scrappy Moms "Spring Fling" stamp set.<br />

I'm linking this up to Scrappy Mom's <a href="http://www.scrappymoms-stamps.blogspot.com/2013/03/terrific-tuesday-challenge-easter.html" target="_blank">Terrific Tuesday</a> Challenge. Before I sign off, I also wanted to share something fun that I ran across in my Easter decorations. My mother-in-law made these little chickens for the grandkids' Easter baskets a very long time ago! There's a plastic egg inside, which was filled with some loose change. My son Josh was just a little tyke at the time, and he called this his "chicken account". Ha! <br />

Today I've been trying out some fun extras I received in my last Stampin' Up! order and playing along with the <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/sketch-challenge-165/" target="_blank">OWH Sketch Challenge</a>. <br />
<center>
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5859063174292243266"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfqxqY0MUN5US74Wa-pRkWt64E1I9WvYmdglnWjB43VfDA2PcKGCY_fECyXe1Af1ApsT3hKahDBBNwZ_frOQooDvjrAwDkPnnrOGt6SUIj28IZCkkavH8OQjTEhtRkmS5AMuORQxwYxK4/s400/9.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center>

This bold leaf print was just screaming for either a bird or floral focal point. I went with my bird punch and an SU stamp set called Language of Friendship. This is a great layout, and I hope to try my hand at a few more cards using this sketch!<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!<br />

It was inspired by the <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/presidents-day-weekend-vcmp-master-thread/" target="_blank">OWH Things with Wheels card challenge</a>, but I forgot to post and link before the challenge closed!<br />
<br />
The car (page 24) was cut at 1 3/4" and the red arrow is from my Smash book supplies. The sentiment is from the Mini Messages set from Scrappy Mom's. <br />

This cartridge has a lot of fun cuts and will be great for Father's Day and other masculine cards!<br />

I had a little trouble assembling the hen without the bottom gold layer showing, so I inked all the edges brown. Adds a nice touch to the card, I think! Don't you love it when things seem to be going horribly wrong but everything is good in the end?<br />
<br />
The background paper is from My Minds Eye...I am loving the 6X6 pads that Michael's is carrying from MME right now! Now if I can only continue to use it up and stop hoarding it! The sentiment is from my <a href="http://www.scrappymoms-stamps.blogspot.com/2012/02/introducing-2-new-sms-sets-mini.html" target="_blank">Scrappy Moms</a> "Mini Messages" set....I'm loving that set too!<br />

<br />
Now, to my Pinterest fail! Only two ingredients.... a cup of oatmeal and 2 mashed bananas, bake 15 minutes. NOT too good! Thought maybe some chilling would help, but...even worse! Do not try this at home, kids. Ha! Have you had any Pinterest fails?<br />

Hello! This week's <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/midweek-throwdown-ombre/" target="_blank">Midweek Throwdown</a> Challenge at OWH Stars and Stamps blog is to use ombre patterns or designs in our cards. I remembered I had some 12X12 scrapbook paper in my stash that fit the bill and selected this peachy color that coordinated with Calypso Coral cardstock and ink from SU. I used the Daydreamers stamp set from PTI and created these two cards:<br />

<br />
I'm not 100% satisfied with the results, but got to the point where I had to either finish or give up! Let me know if you have ideas or suggestions to improve these designs. I do love these colors and hope these cards will brighten someone's day.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by to take a look! Have a great day!<br />

Doesn't look or feel much like spring outside, but the days are getting longer and there are Easter bunnies in my craft room, so I have faith that spring is coming!<br />
<br />
This week's <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/anyway-you-slice-it-composition-the-rule-of-thirds/" target="_blank">Design Bootcamp at OWH</a> is all about using the Rule of Thirds in your card design. I've been playing with the Shellebrate stamp set from Stamper's Best, a fundraiser set for Operation Write Home, and I put together these cards with the Rule of Thirds in mind.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5857507056308910274"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh6p1-uUvYpO5kh0qKeN_0R2aZc9jSFBw3INg6nuq7SaaL-RZPT6FwNQOROP-kqImorI8Jd9sBbhJfKtJWyQpg28zWF81vMZ8ycxiUNx1bLwMvPNTfg2yNdpL_kkGZlQQQ8RMXJ-DAnZI/s400/9.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a><br />
I used DP from the PTI Green Boutique stack and MME. Card stock used includes Pool Party from SU and New Leaf from PTI.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5857507077190976034"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyHoXqeBSycltRvVv5FzMtB8tPb3vBJqBp5UY7KpHC4JLo1lA395ArKxvzM2k6LFO_yP_TxYevczz4zw_Nqq_Vi2_u3wxLHsG3CWLTrkVwv2YcERpcQ9GPFiHEL6dwQ1pABTDv9n4hm7k/s400/11.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="298" /></a><br />
<br />
I created this overlay using a transparency and Sharpie marker. I think it will really be helpful in putting together balanced designs.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5857507266387963650" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsgsbcZL9Ajn3n1tHqyNXFWoeOV1TFgikJRwAy_yoim4pWV_aOZJ_1TkPTwTvQ7oetK-vBqAb7Bf0u7zoUTas3K1HuJm36ZEkbzLSD5DiE_bAO8Mifh18TNkJsRguawmFCUkC0baaoNB8/s400/9.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="298" /></a></div>
<center style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
</center>
<br />
I put this card together from random stuff found in my reject basket. Again, I used my Rule of Thirds overlay to create a pleasing design.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by to take a look. Have a great day!<br />

I went to bed last night thinking I would use my new <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/animal-pun-blogskip-stampers-best-new-release-for-owh-2/" target="_blank">Turtley Awesome</a> stamp set from Stamper's Best on my card today...a green Shellebration card would be "turtley" appropriate for a St. Patrick's Day post! Well, my dog Zoe inspired me to go in a different direction. Every morning when she wants me to get up and feed her, she scratches on the door, climbs on me, then licks me in the face. She just keeps repeating this process until I get up. Today, as she was balancing on top of me, her four boney paws digging into my side, I thought of the elephant stamp from the SU Under the Big Top Set. (Zoe is not a small girl.) I guess that's how your mind works when you've been spending too much time in the craft room, right ladies? Ha!<br />
<br />
Here's my first interpretation of the sketch:<br />
<center>
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5856439966421269314"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXO7mKsbecYw8q00903xLkTdUHvv4TDXKVm2URnGfsnQYL5KtKJRO4CGTW2gBimTZ5FNzuWDsVj_MOa8zj8086S8dwum06y1S0Ah1fkwRDvnromvKoD1DYvH9DxSYSmWVKqu31i1ZBEnY/s400/9.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center>
<br />
The circus tent was cut at 2" on my Cricut from the Create a Critter cartridge. I felt it was floating a little too much on the card, so I made a couple of more cards with the tent at the bottom of the card. That "felt" better, although is wasn't as true to the sketch.<br /><br />
<center>
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/115736936512604657129/CreateInspireAmuse?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnohKfPpNu4XQ#5856439983305679778"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXVvAZ4V3TBt4DB7lJfhGJLYZTG7uO74wHZO6JUL1rSrwvPyMNR1qlarMVc0CBQN1VQ2XHLhNLd78z57d2vAb9MGOH3wfpsQ9KYowmxuvkDVvOK42kc1yh7ld_mTLH-YYCDl_xAXauDcU/s400/10.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center>
<br />
<br />
I paper pieced the elephant with a textured gray DP from MME, then colored the ball and star with my copic markers. Other papers used were Bashful Blue and Night of Navy from SU, and a textured red from DCWV. The big dot texture was done with my Cuttlebug. <br />
<br />
I hope you had a pleasant St. Patrick's Day! Here in Grand Forks we had snow and 5 degrees....quite a change from <a href="http://createinspireandamuse.blogspot.com/2012/03/hangin-with-my-peeps.html" target="_blank">last year</a>. Thanks for stopping by to take a look! Have a great week!<br />

The <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/midweek-throwdown-color-challenge-8/" target="_blank">Midweek Throwdown Challenge</a> this week at OWH is to make a card using green and blue, with a splash of orange if you dare! I inked up my new "Write Soon Minnow" set from Stamper's Best, using OWH Sketch 61 and paper from My Minds Eye. <br />
<br />
This cute stamp set makes me chuckle, and reminds me of a summer day at the lake....which is a great way to take my mind off the snowstorms and subzero temps we've been having here in ND! <br />
